Hurraw!

Is there ever a need for lip balm? Very often, there is not, and the vaseline-ones generally only make you dependent and don't do anything to fix chapped lips from biking through Dutch blizzards. We haven't had those yet this year, but I had chapped lips and I'd finished my Chai Spices lip balm. So I got a few from my favorite lip balm company ever: Hurraw! Lipbalm. Basically it's solid oil in a tube with a nice yet subtle taste (I can't find the neutral one, for the faint of heart i.e. men, but there are manly flavors, if there is such a thing).

I ordered 5 lipbalms, hadn't ordered with them in more than a year I guess, and they actually included a little note and two extra lip balms to try. And it's all handmade and raw and vegan and delicious. They don't pay me to say that, I actually ordered so many lip balms to try out and to give to friends. Also, my favorite ayurveda tea goes vata kapha pitta. The lip balms were completely the other way round. I don't have that much with the whole Ayurveda, but I do like good herbal teas, Indian food in general and those milkshake-things with rose-taste they have. Those are gorgeous.

The ones I'm keeping for me:
Chai Spice: I have since lost it, which I will consider a sign that I should not cling to old memories. I've gone through 4 chai-spiced ones so far, though admittedly one of those had a few unfortunate meetings with the washing machine. It survived the first few times. The taste is cinnamon-y, with a bit of nutmeg and ginger or something, exactly like chai tea. Someone once remarked that he hated lip balms, but didn't actually mind this one because it wasn't sticky, it doesn't have an overpowering taste and it makes for really soft lips in winter.

Pitta: An unexpected surprise. It's minty and lemony and coconutty and delightful. It has a bit of the Blistex-cooling-thing going on, but in delightful subtle way. It's a bit like drinking a cup of mint tea. Mint tea and lemony coconut butter. I love it!

Sun Protection Balm SPF 15: Remember the Celestial Seasonings Mandarin Orange Spice? I know they are evil and multinational, but this tastes exactly like that. It has chamomile and tangerine and I unexpectedly liked the tangerine. And it will be really good for when I go to the place with the sun beds. It's against a flakey skin-thing, not for a vanity thing. If it were up to me, I'd sit at home reading in the shade. Still using this lip balm, which has the right kind (big, not-in-your-body-going) of zink-oxide.

The ones that are looking for a new home:

Earl Grey: A bitter citrus taste, really very much like the tea.

Vata: Suprisingly spicy because of the cardamom. Not my thing. I tried almond before and thought it was fine but not my thing. This tastes a bit like marzipan, which is nice, but too heavy for me.

Kapha: Sweeter than I'd thought. The grapefruit is nice. Fresh, sweet and spicy at once. Liked it way more than Vatta, but not as much as Pitta.

Chocolate: I've had it before, and it does actually tastes like raw chocolate. I prefer the spicy and sometimes citrus-y lip balms. It's probably ideal for chocolate and coffee lovers, although the new owner also thought that chocolate is not a thing that's good with lip balm. She did remark that the texture is really nice, in agreement with above-mentioned man.
