The bit of satire that Twitter sent me to today was absolutely amazing. I never really watch much Stephen Colbert, preferring drama to late night shows that are not John Oliver (or perhaps Lubach, I wonder when and if he’ll be back). To illustrate the reason of my fondness for Stephen and his satirical piece, I give you the following:
“right now the world of late-night is a bit of a sausagefest. Perhaps one day it will be just the opposite—which I believe is called a Georgia O’Keeffe retrospective.”
- Stephen Colbert
I think I’d look at home at said retrospective. And I wanted to check out the block quote function on this new theme.

This shirt can be worn both ways because I fucked the pattern up. Sort of nice, sort of ugly. Very versatile.

Maybe this outfit is a rather terrible illustration of what I wanted to discuss, and maybe I hate those black sweater-jackets and have since set them free. But we need to discuss Ari Fitz’s Tomboyish, no matter how little I like the look I chose on reflection. Because those vlogs and the channel are really inspirational. I especially liked this one vlog where she discussed her coming out and personal style. It was quite relatable, even for someone who has the kind of parents one doesn’t so much come out to as one brings a boy in a skirt home to only to get zero response (not that I took the boy home to provoke, so the parents and I have that in common). Anyway, I liked Ari’s coming out story a lot, and the contemplation on style was actually totally 100% relatable even if my style is not at all shaped like hers was! There might be totally different reasons for me favouring some things traditionally thought of as masculine and tomboyish (looking at you, mum), but the videos struck a chord as something I’ve been looking for and have been trying for a little bit now. So that is also why I adore Ari’s series and videos: they give a whole range of possibilities and inspiration and wonderful conventional and unconventional beauty. It does something different then StyleLikeU but I like it just as much. Ok, I love the stories StyleLikeU do, but the style featured in all of the Tomboyish stuff is closer to mine, and therefore much more of a practical guide.

Trust me, the top looks way better when the person in it is moving and not trying to take a picture that looks flattering despite an overwhelming naturally occurring awkwardness. I have decided I like things that are a different colour in the front than in the back.

And here they are. I also made a baby-version of this hat for a baby on the way, and it is a huge and warm blanket that is usually folded into a square on top of the offensively expensive design pillows that I use as dinner chairs. My mum thinks it’s not ok for grown women to have hats with ears, and that is a fair point. It is also a very fuzzy hat that I think is adorable. And yes, maybe looking adorable should be left to toddlers and this is another example of sexistly infantilising grown women, but fuck it, I feel like Peter Gabriel and that is all I ask of life. Also, it does look more than a bear than a fox, which is unfortunate.

Apparently, when I get home and I’m drunk enough to get a bit of a hangover (which is mostly unusual but not during this vacation), I don’t bother finding a top to sleep in but crash in the previous night’s top and some boxers. I never knew this about me.
Some terrible news. Ok some unremarkable news that is a little bit terrible for me, yet sounds quite entertaining. My computer plays this game of Russian roulette with me (as does the phone, though that is more of a “you should be happy it even functions after its encounter with the toilet”), where its screen goes black at completely unpredictable intervals. I even have a sometimes effective way of temporarily dealing with it by now, so that I can save any files I was working on when the screen goes black. And because it (even though it is a design flaw in the model) broke 7 months too late, it might be super expensive. And editing pictures for this blog is becoming something of a personal hell (and I’m forcing myself not to think about having to type essays for courses in about a week). There’s more that just that, I’ll update you shortly, but for now: I could apologise for not being able to post pictures, but then this was all unavoidable. Things are being done about it, but only starting the 22 of September? The computer doctor has gone on holiday, but has very kindly promised to help when he’s back, so that was great! We’ll see. I also really like this outfit, even if it took ages to get is posted. I went out in it.
